Imola Tantrum

Kia ora, I’m Imola – a designer that utilises illustrations, print design and digital mediums within my work.

Rain and her Boots

My exhibited work is a reimagining of a ‘classic’ children’s book, which aims to challenge the common exclusion of parental figures from children’s narratives. This piece is a visual extension of topics and themes I explored within my dissertation: “Where are my parents? How can design bring parental figures into the plot and design style of children’s books and media for 3 – 5 year olds?”

Design

The BA Graphic and Digital Design programme is rooted in experimentation across digital and analogue media, deep collaboration and a focused engagement with visual and material culture. We are a community of visual thinkers and makers, passionate about typography and language, narrative and storytelling, motion graphics and moving image, art direction, photography and image making. We understand design as broad and complex, multi-layered and detailed, crafted and accidental. Combining professional practice and creative research with technical skills, our programme develops curious students into designers of the future.
