BA Graphic & Digital Design

Estela Kolesovaite

Hi, I’m Estela, a graphic designer interested in vector illustration, typography, and multidisciplinary design. I enjoy exploring creative ideas across different mediums and creating visually engaging work that combines strong communication, creativity, and thoughtful design.

The Invisible String

Red strings draped across a window pane with photos attached to the strings.

My final major project is inspired by The Threads of Life by Chiharu Shiota and explores the Red String Theory, an East Asian belief that people destined to meet are connected by an invisible red thread. Using a timeline and interconnected red strings, I map the journey of my relationship with my girlfriend, Nyasha, from our first meeting in Barcelona during an Erasmus trip to reconnecting years later and eventually becoming a couple. The project transforms personal memories into a visual narrative, exploring themes of fate, coincidence, and connection while inviting viewers to reflect on the relationships and encounters that shape their own lives.

Design

The BA Graphic and Digital Design programme is rooted in experimentation across digital and analogue media, deep collaboration and a focused engagement with visual and material culture. We are a community of visual thinkers and makers, passionate about typography and language, narrative and storytelling, motion graphics and moving image, art direction, photography and image making. We understand design as broad and complex, multi-layered and detailed, crafted and accidental. Combining professional practice and creative research with technical skills, our programme develops curious students into designers of the future.
