BA Media & Communications

Sakiya Parameswaran

Media and Communication Graduate 2026

A passionate traveller, photographer, and cultural explorer, I am fascinated by the stories, memories, and human connections that shape our understanding of the world. I believe communication has the power to transform experiences into shared meaning, using visual narratives to inspire reflection, spark curiosity, and create lasting emotional connections.

All Colours Hold Memories

This project investigates the question: In what ways do colour-driven memories prompt individuals to use photography as a method of holding on to or returning to places? Focusing on the relationship between memory, colour, and photographic practice, the research explores how chromatic associations can function as affective and sensory triggers that reconnect people with locations. From this perspective, colour is understood as a relational device that links experience, emotion, and perception, while photography becomes a means of translating these memories into visual forms that communicate not the objective appearance of a place, but its affective atmosphere. Through a practice-based approach, the project aims to transform the chromatic associations that emerge from the investigation into spatial experiences that privilege mnemonic activation over documentary representation. The research will culminate in the development of an immersive installation and participatory workshop designed to make the chromatic dimension of memory visible and foster affective resonance.
