Media and Communication Graduate 2025

This is a documentary film on international students’ experiences when they arrive in the UK newly to study. It explores the challenges most international students face, ranging from settling in, language barriers, loneliness, depression, homesickness, and generally not knowing what to do and how to go about things in a new country. The purpose of this project is to create a well-structured strategy informational resource that will help tackle the challenges and barriers that international students face to better support the diverse student population. And also to propose solutions to these impending issues, as well as contribute valuable insights that can lead to positive changes in how universities cater to international students’ needs.
The documentary film has six participants: four students and two academic staff, both teaching and non-teaching. For the exhibition, this project would require five screens hung on a splint or a wall as well as five headsets for the screens and also a space to display the participants’ pictures.
Our BA Media and Communications programme provides an academic, creative and critical understanding of the media for roles in a variety of creative industries and backgrounds. By the end of our Media and Communications degree, you’ll know how to produce creative content across different kinds of media, including writing, camera use, sound recording and post-production/editing. The course supports students in developing a broad portfolio of independent critical and creative outputs, and to explore how their own practice relates to the real-world media and creative industries.
