SUGO

Sugo is a character-driven comedy short film that combines dark humour, heightened personalities, and absurd conflict. Set within the world of two rival restaurants, the film follows Giovanni Alessandro and Salvatore Andrea, who run their kitchens like competing kingdoms. Their bitter, decades-long feud has consumed their lives, with every dish, decision, and interaction becoming part of an ongoing battle for dominance.

When a powerful figure known only as The Proprietor declares that one of the restaurants must close, Giovanni is forced into a “peace” dinner with his longtime rival. What begins as an attempt at reconciliation quickly revealed itself to be something far more sinister, as only one of the chefs was expected to walk away from the table alive.

The motivation behind creating Sugo was to explore how obsession, pride, and competition can escalate into complete absurdity. Through its blend of comedy and tension, the film aimed to entertain audiences while showcasing the consequences of allowing rivalry and ego to consume every aspect of a person’s life.
