MA Digital Arts

Isabella Galante

Isabella Marie Galante, originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is a multidisciplinary artist with roots in sculptor and set design, crafting work that moves between the tactile and the digital. Through a gothic feminist lens, she conjures natural shapes into mythic vessels exploring where culture touches flesh, and flesh rejects soul.

Eldest daughter

Eldest daughter is a crave for control in a space of weakness. There is a fragility in flesh, something we fear as we age, but also a jealousy we have of the ageless tireless digital. I wanted this piece to feel familiar, but detached and distant. Choosing a natural form, but producing it through means of new technology, and then pushing back through basic ways tactile making – giving a conversation to expectations and cyborgatic lifestyles we yearn for that make us less and less natural more and more removed.
