BA Animation

Anelia Bangura

Hello! My name is Anelia (I go by Nellie), a 2D artist who enjoys animation, storytelling and character/enviroment design.

Colour Me Cha-Cha

My project is an interactive virtual reality experience where the player is able to draw whatever they would like in a 3D space. In this experience you are invited by the character ‘Cha-Cha’ (based on my favourite plushie) to draw with the controllers and move around the space to create anything you think of. The aim of this project is to encourage creative freedom and calmness by taking the chance to escape to another world for a short time.

Transcript

The video simulates a virtual reality experience, we see a natural background, with trees and plants. In the background we see the words Colour me Cha-Cha. In the middle of the landscape we see an otter wearing a kasa hat with two fingers raised in the form of a greeting. On the left side of the otter we see an arrow pointing to the word Erase and indicating which control button to use to erase. On the right side of the otter we see another arrow pointing to the word Draw and pointing to which control button to use to draw. Then a glove appears in first person, which starts interacting with the scene and draws a happy face and rotates 360 degrees horizontally drawing lines and showing the landscape.

Design

Our BA Animation programme is one of the UK’s most forward-looking, industry-focused animation programmes. It combines a rich, practice-orientated mix of 2D, 3D and experimental animation with an emphasis on storytelling, character design, and immersive animation. Through a strong studio culture, our students develop and share skills across artistic direction, digital sculpting, industry-standard renderings, game design, visual effects, and innovative storytelling. The curriculum is designed to convey best practice in animation and a solid foundation for a career in the Creative Industries, with vocational skills development and student-led learning taking centre stage.
